Great aid for Passing PMI-ACP

I have passed the exam recently and this book was a real help for me.

This is a pure question answer book. But it helped me to find out the tiny little gaps what I had in my studies.
The explanations are the real strength. So once you give any exam in the book take enough time to review the answers and the detailed explanations thoroughly.

A great set of practice tests!

I just passed the PMI-ACP and this book was an important study tool which contributed to my success.

This book is nothing but practice tests...and THAT is part of it's strength. The real strength lies in the answer keys with authoritative citations from the source references upon which the PMI-ACP exam is based. Also, the practice exams alternate between "Mock Exams" which cover all knowledge areas and tools and techniques, and targeted exams which cover specific knowledge areas. The "Mock Exams" get progressively harder until you get to the last three which are extremely difficult, but doable if you've gone methodically through the book and "learned" from where you missed earlier questions. This is reference is invaluable if you really want to become a PMI-ACP.

When he discovered them in the house, Gutowna became his mistress to protect her friends--later escaping him to join the Polish partisans during the Germans' retreat. Opdyke, born in 1922 to a Polish Catholic family, was a 17-year-old nursing student when Germany invaded her country in 1939. She spent a year tending to the ragtag remnants of a Polish military unit, hiding out in the forest with them; was captured and raped by Russians; was forced to work in a Russian military hospital; escaped and lived under a false identity in a village near Kiev; and was recaptured by the Russians. But her most remarkable adventures were still to come. Back in her homeland, she, like so many Poles, was made to serve the German army, and she eventually became a waitress in an officers' dining hall. She made good use of her positionArisking her life, she helped Jews in the ghetto by passing along vital information, smuggling in food and helping them escape to the forest. When she was made the housekeeper of a German major, she used his villa to hide 12 JewsAand, at enormous personal cost, kept them safe throughout the war. In translating Opdyke's experiences to memoir (see Children's Books, June 14), Armstrong and Opdyke demonstrate an almost uncanny power to place readers in the young Irene's shoes. Forced to work for the German Army, her blond hair, blue eyes, and youth brought her the relatively safe job of waitress in the officer's dining room. She used this Aryan mask to pick up conversations and pass the information to the Jews in the ghetto, along with food and blankets. She smuggled people from the work camp into the forest. When she was made the housekeeper of a Nazi major, she hid 12 Jews in the basement of his home until the Germans' defeat.

A True "Profile of Courage"

I am so grateful for having read this book. It was deeply moving. I am a seventeen year old girl, as Irene was when the war began, and I cannot even imagine having to experience all of things she did....being raped, a mistress, etc. I admire this woman so much, her courage and determination are one in a billion. It's incomprehensible to know what she went through during those dreadful years, yet through it all her faith is what helped her to survive. I will never forget this book for as long as live...I've read so many books, and I have to admit that I think this one has truly moved me the most. I've read many Holocaust stories as well, but this had a profound effect on me. Please read this book--you'll gain not only a better insight of World War II and the Holocaust, but also how to appreciate life more and realize how much you take for granted.

--A Riveting and True Story--

This is probably one of the most remarkable stories that I've ever encountered and I don't understand why it hasn't received more attention. My husband and I listened to the audio tape which was beautifully read by Hope David.
IN MY HANDS is the autobiography of Irene Gut, a 17 year old Polish Catholic girl. The book begins with lovely recollections that Irene had of her early life in Czestochowa, Poland, where she was surrounded by her four sisters and loving parents. When the Nazi's invaded Poland in 1939, Irene was living away from her family in Radom where she was studying to become a nurse. When Radom was bombed, the Polish Army had to retreat and asked that some of the medical staff come with them to help take care of the wounded. Irene volunteered to go, and eventually ended up on the other side of Poland which was under Russian rule. Many miles away from her family, and eventually separated from the other hospital staff, Irene faced life alone, and saw the country that she loved controlled by brutes and killers.
At first this young woman saw the worst in the Russian soldiers and later she also met the German invaders who showed her another side of brutality. Despite the threat to her own life, Irene risked everything so that many others had the chance to live. This very inspiring memoir compares to HIDING PLACE the story of Corrie Ten Boom and her family.

It's a decent read, but don't go out of your way to get this

I guess for $16 it's a decent read, but it's one of those examples of a story which a good idea as the premise, but a not so entertaining follow-through of that idea. Has some good and fun moments, but I don't think the overall story is as good as it could have been. Quite honestly, the 22 minute episode of the same name from the Batman Brave and the Bold cartoon (which is loosely based off of this comic), did a better job of telling a story. If you're interested in the premise, go seek out that episode of the same name of this story.

This is a wonderful book and I am happy that I came upon it while browsing on Amazon.com. This book is an appropriate length, not too long or drawn-out, but offers precise and salient information along with wisdom and experience. It highlights all the major aspects of choosing a partner for those who are single and ready to embark on the journey to find love, for those who are currently dating, or perhaps is quite helpful to those who recently experienced a breakup and are taking time off to heal and recompose themselves. I enjoyed reading about the material presented in this book, as it is incredibly useful, and truly can provide great perspective and clarity to the reader. Additionally, this book is well written in terms of using correct grammar, style, and punctuation, and I thank the author and editor for producing high quality content. It is very apparent that the author put in a good amount of time and effort to produce a polished, beneficial, and enjoyable book.

Chasing and more

This brief (77 page) book covers a lot more territory than its title promises. It starts with the basics of making the steel punches that chasing and repoussage use to create relief in metal surfaces. Clear descriptions cover everything from the proper shape for a tool tip (it should be angled so its contact with the workpiece remains visible), to proper hardening and tempering. Successive chapters discuss some approachable projects, the pitch that supports the work, surface finishes, and more how-to regarding this classic metal-forming technique.

The second half of the book covers a wide range of topics, including special considerations for chased holloware. Two sections also discuss forming with dies and a hydraulic press, or an interesting alternative with dies and hand tools. Different authors write many of the chapters, so there's some overlap in the discussions and an eclectic mix of topics. That's par of this book's quirky charm, though.

You can get more information at the author's web site (chasingmetal dot com), including sources for the book that sometimes offer better prices than I see here. She lists some sources that appear not to carry her book any more and some that don't accept internet orders, but the list makes interesting reading anyway.
