Leon El-Alamin, born Leon Wilson is a native of Flint, MI and served time in the Michigan State Correctional. Mr. El-Alamain shares his experience of the pain of prison life through poetry and his new found wisdom in spoken words. As a Muslim he now lives his life by the words of God and is on the battlefield everyday to help others stay our of prison or create a new life after being imprisoned.

About the Author
Leon El-Alamin is a native of Flint, Michigan. While in the Michigan Department of Correction from 2003 to 2010, he discovered his love for poetry and wrote the poetry collection Pain is Poetry. Leon made a major decision that once he was released from prison, he would change his life as well as the lives of others. And he did. Today, he is the co-founder of 3Rs, an organization that aims to refine, reform, and rebuild the social identity of our urban reality. He and his business associates dedicate their time and lives to make a difference for the lives of the young people in Flint, helping felons in and out of prison, getting their lives on the right track, and helping elderly people. The group recently received the Neighborhood Leader Award.

Redemption is truly possible for anyone

Pain is poetry is a great read because it goes into the mind of once troubled youth from his childhood to manhood while giving you insight into the struggles of growing up in a high crime city. Yet, the highlight for me personally is seeing that despite all the bad decisions that were made in his youth which lead to his near death encounter, you see the torment which tempered the author to become a pillar of hope in his community. It truly is inspiration and I recommend that this book be given to anyone struggling to find his moral beacon in this challenging time.
