Recipes need some work

I originally gave this cookbook five stars after reading over the recipes and the information she had to say about nutrition. I am a really strict, clean eater cooking and baking mostly Paleo and was delighted about the way she talked about whole foods. I made her broccoli with cashews and pouched some chicken to go along with it and it was great, but I added more seasoning to it as it lacked some flavor and I believe good food whether healthy or not is all about the flavor. Well, I then made a few other recipes such as the coconut pancakes and the peanut butter and jam smoothie. I have to say, I have made dozens of different clean pancake recipes and this was my least favorite. All I tasted was baking soda and I had to toss the entire batch as it wasn't edible. I make different smoothies everyday and my husband considers me to be an expert with them. Just for the heck of it, I followed her recipe for Peanut Butter and Jam Smoothie just as written to see what the end result would be. Mind you, I would have done it much differently by making it thicker using less almond milk, etc. Hers was watered down, not a smoothie consistency and in order for me to drink it, I had to add more frozen berries and a couple of other ingredients to thicken it and bring more flavor back. I like her information and unique ingredients in some dishes I've not seen before, but her flavor is really lacking in my opinion. I feel her recipes are bland, but can be tweeked with more flavor if you're willing to do that. I generally tweek recipes to begin with, but will know that recipes from this book need a little more TLC when making them.

The ever glowing Amelia Freer delivered what I wanted most—more recipes. If you have yet to learn how to glow please go and read her first book Eat. Nourish. Glow. and then come back here to get an abundance of delicious recipes.
